Bloomington Public Schools (District 271) are ranked among the top in the country academically. The high school sport teams are usually ranked at the top of conference and state levels. Bloomington is the hospitality center of the Greater Twin Cities featuring over 6,500 first class hotel/motel rooms and over 50 restaurants. The Mall of America, the nation's largest enclosed retail and entertainment complex is located just off I-494 and Highway 77 in the eastern part of Bloomington. It holds over 400 shops including Bloomingdales, Macy's, Sears and Nordstrom as well as theaters and Lego Showplace. The complex which attracts 35,000,000 visitors a year also features a seven acre indoor theme park (The Park at MOA) and a world-class 1.2 million gallon aquarium.
